On behalf of the National Indigenous Science Education Program (NISEP), we would like to invite you to attend The Indigenous Science Experience Family Science Fun Day to be held at the Redfern Community Centre on Sunday 21st August, 2016. This will follow three days of Science engagement with primary school students (August 17-19).

Sunday’s Family Science Fun Day runs from 10:00am to 3:30pm. It will be open to the public and incorporate a range of fun hands-on activities that demonstrate scientific principles in a culturally relevant way. The formal opening of the day will begin with a Welcome to Country and we would like to invite you to join us in welcoming the community to this event. All activities will be held at the Redfern Community Centre, 29-53 Hugo Street, Redfern.

Other community leaders and representatives have also been invited to attend. As NISEP’s work has previously been featured on the ABC programs Message Stick and Catalyst, and NITV’s Around the Traps, we also anticipate great media interest in this event. To get an idea of the event, you may wish to look at our YouTube videos of the previous Indigenous Science Experience Family Science Fun Days athttps://www.youtube.com/user/NISEPmq (within the Indigenous Science Experience link).

Please feel free to contact Joanne Jamie (as detailed below) with any questions and/or for RSVP.

Sincerely,

Associate Professor Joanne Jamie Kristina Karasulas
